Welcome To Inner Wheel -Sri Lanka

District Chairman's Message

Permit me first to greet you in my mother-tongue “AYUBOWAN”, meaning “May you live long”; live a long life full of good deeds altruistically dedicated to others, irrespective of whether you extend your hands to your own fellow member in personalized service or the deserving individuals in society, who do not possess what we have and struggling to survive amidst many difficulties.  That should be our mission on earth, while we traverse beyond borders.

This year the International Inner Wheel President Dr. Pallavi Shah has woven her thoughts into a meaningful vision, “Commit with conviction, compassion, consistency”.   It truly arrests our attention and spurs us to accelerate our service-oriented involvements in different channels.  Yet, being members in a women’s organization, our prime duty is to make sure that down-trodden women live a happy and contented life, while performing many roles within the institution of marriage.

At the 14th International Inner Wheel (IIW) Convention at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia in 2009, the UNICEF’s Global Girls’ Education Programme was named as the International Inner Wheel Social Project for 2009-2012.  In Sri Lanka, our aim is also to support this project designated by IIW to ensure that girls, especially of single female-headed families, in rural areas receive an education and health benefits.   The District will fund and implement this project as a joint-venture with the 19 Inner Wheel Clubs.  The identification of the recipients will be done through the Probation and Child Care Services Department, and we hope to present each child with an educational kit that consists of many useful items to make their school life a happy and memorable one.   This project will be executed in August.

The highlight of this year is the 2nd South Asia Rally, scheduled to be held in April 2011.  District 322 considers it an honour to be the hosting country for this colourful event which reinforces our bonds with our neighbouring countries.

Let the year start with pleasant beginnings and conclude with many achievements that reveal we have not lived in vain.  Enjoy Inner Wheel and be proud that you are a part of this wonderful organization whose main focus is on humanitarian services.

May the Triple Gem bless you and keep you well.

Yours in Inner Wheel,
Mala Edirisinghe.
District Chairman 2010/2011

Message from the National Representative 2010 - 2011

I extend my greetings to all our members and well wishers. As we are now striding past our silver jubilee, and embarking on a long journey of service to our fellow beings, the commitment of each and every one of us will most definitely enrich the quality of our service in Inner Wheel.

This year's most thought provoking theme announced by our International Inner Wheel President Dr. Pallavi Shah is "Commit with conviction, compassion, consistency". These three qualities namely conviction, compassion and consistency are badly needed in our world engulfed in hate, division and selfishness. We should make every attempt to uphold the ideals of Inner wheel and bring hope, love and care to our fellow beings with conviction, compassion and consistency.

As the National Representative for this year I am fully committed to serving our District and all District and Club officials are assured of my complete corporation and assistance to them, at all times.

The second South Asian rally which is to be held in Sri Lanka next year will be the first of its kind to be organized by the Inner Wheel District 322. Our members are all invited to actively participate in this rally and enjoy the friendship and interaction with other members from our region.

I wish all our members a most memorable and successful Inner Wheel year.

Priyanthie Perera

National Representative 2010/2011
